Interesting facts about Udaipur

Udaipur has always been famous for it’s rich cultural and heritage. The beautiful lakes and gardens & palaces of Udaipur attract tourists from all over the world. Here are few interesting facts about Udaipur:


- Udaipur, the city of lakes, also known as "the Venice of the East", is the second most visited city in Rajasthan, after Jaipur.

- Founded by Udai Singh II of the Mewar dynasty and named after him, Udaipur is the only city that did not yield to the pressure of the Mughal Empire.

- Udaipur is a green city surrounded by beautiful Aravali hills with gardens, lakes and water reservoirs and NOT a desert city.

- Climate is throughout the year, the weather reaches a maximum of 38 degrees in the summer and a minimum of 11 degrees Celsius in the winters. The best time to visit is during the month of October to March.

- Udaipur is well connected with railways. There are regular trains for Delhi, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, and Jaipur from the Udaipur station. Udaipur is also linked with other major cities of Rajasthan via Indian Railways. The nearest airport is the Dabok Airport 28 kms away from Udaipur.
